ALYSSA AGUILAR

I was born and raised in San Jose, CA , but it wasn't until attending San Jose State University that I took my first dance class. I instantly became obsessed, and 11 years later... I'm even more obsessed.

I started out as purely a social dancer; going out dancing 6 days a week. Once “The Get Down” Dance Studio opened in 2016, I was offered my first teaching gig. Teaching/coaching came easy to me, having worked as a swim coach the previous 10 years. My challenge was that I could teach salsa at a higher level than I was dancing. So in 2018, I moved to NY to focus solely on my dance training. I trained and performed on Yamulee Dance Company, as well with Isa Freiburger.

Upon returning home in 2019, I founded “Valle Flora Social Club”, competed in Colombia at the World Latin Dance Cup (placing 6th -Pro On2 Couple), and created over 20 dance videos with a combined 6 million views (YouTube Channel: SalsaVida).

I'm excited to see what 2023 will bring!
